Dear family and friends of our parish community of Mary Help of Christians,
Words cannot begin to describe the many feelings of grief and desolation that are being felt by so many of our families, friends and neighbors as we remember the tragic and senseless violence that took place at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School just one year ago this week.
On February 14th between the hours of 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM we invite you and your neighbors to join us for a Holy Hour of Prayer for Healing and for Peace. It will be a quiet time to prayer for the repose of the beautiful souls of our dearly departed. It will be a time to pray for those who still suffer the physical and emotional trauma caused by the effects of those terrible and violent moments. It will also be a time to remember in prayer our first responders who each day strive to keep our community safe.
Come and join us in prayer at 2:00 PM and later in the day at 5:45 PM there will be an interfaith prayer service at Pine Trails Park where neighbors will come together for support and healing.
May we as a community of faith continue to put our trust in the Lord, who is our rock and our strength and may Mary, the Mother of the King of Peace, intercede for us.
Msgr. Terence Hogan
