This is a project organized by high school teenage girls for girls ages 10 thru 18. Our hosts gather nice items such as clothing, jewelry, shoes and accesories for girls. Many donations come from our local area and students from several high schools. The girls then organize the items and set up a boutique, and plan an interactive session with our guests. Our guests try on items and fill two shopping bags. The girls get together, talk, and encourage each other to see the beauty inside each one of them, to have self confidence, and know that they are special and can aspire to be anything they set themselves to be.
The guests are girls from our church, local area, and anyone who wants to share a positive experience. We know families have hardships and growing up in today's world is difficult at times. We want girls to know that We Care and that we are here to help. Mothers also are involved and help organize the event. Guest moms meet in a seperate room and have group talks about mother-daughter relationships. Then we all join the girls for food and fun!
Mary's Closet hosted their first event on April 27th with more than 20 guests and 10 hosts from Cardinal Gibbons, St. Thomas Aquinas, Stoneman Douglas, & Coral Springs High School. We are happy and grateful to everyone who donated items and supported this project. We will be hosting the event again in a few months. Thanks to everyone and Remember the best garment one wears is their inner beauty and self confidence.
